If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, weighed down by anxiety, or struggling to find motivation and joy in your day to day life, you’re not alone. Many people experience periods of anxiety and depression that can make even small tasks feel exhausting. At Insight Centre Counselling and Psychotherapy in Barrie, I offer a warm, supportive space where you can slow down, breathe, and begin to understand what your mind and body are trying to tell you.
My name is Tatyana Bashkatova, RP, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist who provides individual counselling for anxiety and depression. I work with adults who are ready to explore what’s beneath the surface, what fuels their worry, sadness, or emotional numbness, and who want to move toward a more balanced, fulfilling life. My approach is gentle, experiential, and collaborative. I draw on evidence-based methods like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Family Systems Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, Transactional Analysis, and Emotion-Image Therapy (EIT) to help you connect with your emotions and inner strengths.
Anxiety and depression can look different for everyone. Some people feel restless, tense, and unable to stop worrying. Others feel empty, disconnected, or weighed down by self-doubt. Often, both feelings exist together, creating cycles of fear, fatigue, and frustration that feel impossible to escape. You might notice changes in sleep, appetite, focus, or energy. You may question your worth or feel distant from people you care about.
Through individual counselling for anxiety and depression, we work together to make sense of these experiences. Our sessions help you identify patterns, recognize triggers, and begin to shift the relationship you have with your thoughts and emotions.
In our sessions, I focus on creating a safe, compassionate space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgment. Each session is tailored to your needs, but often we begin by exploring how anxiety or depression shows up in your life and body. I may guide you through mindfulness or imagery-based exercises that help you notice sensations, emotions, or inner parts of yourself that seek attention or care.
We’ll work at your pace. Some days might focus on building practical coping tools, like grounding exercises or strategies to manage rumination, while others might be more reflective, helping you connect with deeper emotional experiences. Over time, you’ll begin to understand the roots of your pain and gain clarity about what you truly need to feel more at peace.
Individual counselling can be a turning point for people who have tried to manage anxiety and depression on their own but feel stuck. With the right support, you can learn to:
Many clients describe a sense of relief after finally sharing what they’ve been holding in for so long. As therapy progresses, you’ll begin to notice subtle shifts, a lighter mood, better sleep, greater confidence in handling challenges. These changes often build over time, forming a foundation for long-term emotional well-being.
Beginning therapy can feel like a big decision, especially when you’re already feeling low or anxious. But you don’t have to do this alone. Together, we can uncover what’s holding you back and help you reconnect with your strength, purpose, and sense of self.
If you’re ready to start individual counselling for anxiety and depression in Barrie ON, I invite you to book a free 15-minute consultation to learn more about how we can work together. Healing begins with a single conversation, and I’d be honoured to support you on that journey.
